Beautiful Clearlake in California

Beautiful Clearlake in California
Pacific Ocean/Mendocino Feb 2016
Update: March 6th, 2016.
After a very very long year of learning to live a new life with my most recent handicap. I am getting movement in my arm!! :) It started the end of August and has been progressing, slowly. My issues with paranioia and depression are also getting better. I am confident that things will continue to progress. However, loosing a whole YEAR of my life is devastating to say the least. However, keeping a positive attitude for the most part has been a huge challenge, but I do it. I am grateful to all my family and friends that have been so encouraging and helpful. Thank you..

Doc & Pam’s Memorial Day weekend, we crashed..

We arrived at Doc & Pam’s about 1pm ish.. there were motorhomes, 5th wheels, tents and lots of people when we arrived.. We knocked, no one answered, so we walked in.. still no sign of life..?? As we looked out the kitchen window we could see people in the pool, conversations happening off to the left on the patio.. so we knew people were alive and happening.. Smile Ev and I grabbed a piece of candy and walked on out and said “hi” to all.. Pam and Doc are so cute.. greeted us with open arms.. to their real family fun.. how gracious is that.. We had such a lovely afternoon with their family.. I do believe we would crash this family gathering again!! Smile You guys have a really great family and we loved chatting with everyone all afternoon..
A lovely ending to a perfect day… Was “Taco” night.. everyone pitched in and we had fabulous eats!! Thanks Pam & Doc for such a wonderful afternoon!! Nice family.. hope to see y’all again sometime soon.. Smile

Work, Work, Work

It seems like over the past week or so we have been so busy trying to get everything working and planted before we leave on our trip up north for about 4 weeks or so.
We have our garden planted for the most part.. We only need to replace plants the gofers have taken out so far. I have also been working on the sprinkler system to get it working properly. We have plenty to do between now and the 13th of June.
As I said we have our garden in and plants are coming up, and some have to replaced. The real issue is the sprinklers.. We need to have them all working and not leaking..
I am having a particular problem with an inline flow restrictor. The new one is longer than the old one.. Sad smile So I am trying to come up with an idea to fix this problem.. It is all pvc pipe, so I will think on it.. and come up with a fix.. Smile
All the other sprinklers are working great so far.
Wednesday this week we needed to go Costco and get tires on the Toyota.. Needed to do some shopping too. Had to pick up supplies for the upcoming wedding.. Stopped along the way home to take pictures of the lake, so windy!
On Thursday and Friday 5/25, I was cooking most of the day. I made up 10, 5# Lasagnas and 4, 2# Lasagnas and baked some sourdough bread. I also delivered two of the lasagnas and bread to some special friends.
Friday evening I worked on getting this done for the upcoming wedding.
Saturday I slowed cooked some pork for carnitas to take to our friend’s home on Sunday. I also put up 7 half pints of strawberry jelly. Then Ev & I worked in the yard some.. We trimmed out roses and cut some old ones out. I fixed up the sprinklers and it was good to go. Then we decided we needed to tackle the leaking pipe down in the fruit trees..so you know my dilemma there. So in the meantime I had to run to town because the glue for the pvc pipe was no good. So came in took a shower and off to town I went.. I hit Wal-Mart, grocery outlet, radio shack and Mendomill.. dang.. Then got home and had to finish up my carnitas.. Cut up the cilantro, grate the Mexican cheese and cut limes.. Smile.. couldn’t resist not tasting the carnitas, so ate dinner while I was at it.. LOL.. It is nearly 6pm now.. Both Ev and I are pretty well beat.. Hope I didn’t wear you out..?? Tomorrow will be busy too.. hopefully get the sprinkler fixed in the morning.. hit the Lower Lake parade, then over to Pam & Doc’s for Taco night with their family and friends. aww some fun!!
Here are some photos of this weeks projects, etc..

Upcoming Wedding, Carrie & Jason

I am trying to get an early start on the upcoming wedding of Carrie & Jason. Carrie is my son-in-law’s sister who lives in Sacramento. She and her fiancĂ© will be married Sunday, June 10th in Roseville, CA.
I have most of the flowers ordered, and done some shopping for the other essentials. It’s been a few years since I have done wedding flowers. To my amazement the cost of this things have doubled and tripled!! OMG! I am really in shock! Oh well not much I can do about it. Just have to be more precise.
I started making bows, tulle bows, etc. for the flower accents, so I could have a head start.
Weddings are very time consuming. Just doing the flowers alone is very involved. Example: June 7th drive to Santa Rosa get the flower, June 8th design corsages & boutonnieres, June 9th design bouquets, and arrangements for the tables. June 10th wedding day, drive to Roseville, CA and delivery flowers and attend wedding.. Smile

After the wedding, our trip to Northern CA/Hat Creek area!! Can’t wait!!

Wine Barrel Planter Liners

For many years I have had wine barrels as planters and they have been on our redwood deck. I try to move them around from here to there, but still have the problem with the water draining on our deck, which leads to rotting wood problems of the deck. This year I was bound and determined to find a solution to our problem!! I looked high, low and in between, no one had answer.. Until one day I was in Kelseyville Lumber and I was talking with on of the guys that works there and he suggested a tray that is put under water heaters (rubber/plastic??) and it was the proper size!! about 26”inches!! YIPEEEEEEEEEEEE.. and it was less than $10!
Even better!! It works great.. and the best part is that it has a drain.. yep a drain.. I had to get a little creative (but you know that is my middle name) and I have finally got a great tray that catches the water and drains it away from my deck.. Smile So happy!! So if you look at the photos below I show exactly what you need to have and how to do it.. Any question, just ask me.. Smile

Always to be sure to drill about 3 holes (1-1/2” each) in the bottom of the barrel for proper drainage. When filling the wine barrel with your preferred mix of dirt, you should also fill the bottom about a 1/3 of the way up with “popcorn” Styrofoam peanuts the barrel before putting your compost/dirt in.

WONDERFUL MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND

We weren’t home from Reno when Lindsy called and asked if we could go camping with them for the weekend at Thousand Trails Russian River just north of Cloverdale. I said we would love to go. We would have all day Friday to pack..<<laughing
They had it a bit tougher, they had to work and pack! We were going to met up on Saturday afternoon.
We got to the campground about an hour before Lindsy & Chris, we found the “perfect” sites for us, we were side by side.
It was pretty hot when we got all set up and decided that we needed to check out the river. So we packed up dogs and kids and headed down to the river.. Quite a little walk, but we endured. Of course it was so hot that we just couldn’t resist the invitation of that nice cool water! Me first, then Colin and then Lindsy. The “boys’ decided not to come in, cause they didn’t have their “water shoes” on.. Oh well it was so nice and refreshing! We didn’t stay long at the water before we headed back up to camp. Chris & Lindsy cooked Hamburgers for our dinner.. best hamburgers!! One of my favorite dinners!! We enjoyed our cocktails.. and just visited for hours.. Colin with busy with his “cowboys & indians”, we brought him to play with.
Lindsy was the first one up in the mornings, I could hear her outside from my open window in our trailer. She had already fixed the coffee, so I was happy to get up and go sit with her and talk. Lindsy & Chris had been in Hawaii the week before, so she shared the good times they had experienced while there. Sunday morning was also Mother’s Day! I had the one of the BEST MOTHER’S DAY’s ever! The only thing that could have been better was the weather! OMG it was soooooooooo hot on Saturday and now this morning it was sooo cold and fog! We had to have our sweats on.. dang! It didn’t dampen our spirits we still had a great time! Lindsy & Chris got me this terrific Mother’s Day card!! Opened it up and there was a hula dancer, dancing!! They got me some new coffee cups from Hawaii and some suntan lotion from Hawaii that I love, called Maui Babe, nice tanning lotion! I have a wonderful  and loving daughter! I got a “two fer” with a great son-in-law!! Not to mention that little munchkin Colin…he’s such a good boy??.. well sometimes!! <<laughing
I cooked up a good ole’ camp breakfast.. uummm soo good.. then the 4 of us played cards. First we played “31”, then after awhile we played Texas Hold’em.. Late in the day the sun came out and it got to about 70 or so.. Ev & I did take a walk down to the river with the dogs, however it was much to cool to think about swimming. We barb-q’ed a tri tip and had twice baked potatoes and salad for dinner… ummm good..
Monday we got up and the weather was already SUNNY! OMG now the sun comes out.. this was the day we were leaving… Ev left camp to head to Santa Rosa to get our kayaks, but not before having some breakfast with us all. Then the kids started packing up and left about 11am and not too long after that did Ev return and then we packed up too, getting home about 2pm or so…
We really did relax and enjoy our time with the kids! Great weekend! Sorry about all my mosquito bites, but other than that.. It was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

Grand time with the Mohoff’s & Gill’s in Reno

We planned our trip to Mike & MaryAnn’s for a mid week get away. We met long time friends of M&M, Mike & Linda, all the way from Atlanta, Georgia! Very interesting couple. Mike & Linda travel the world about 6 to 7 months a year! Linda said that one year they were on at least 45 flights! I am lucky if I get on an airplane 2 every two years! It was fun to listen about their trips.. It is more interesting on how they go about finding the BEST deals (low cost travel) on the internet! Sometimes they fly out of the strangest places, and other times they may need to drive a day/half a day to a different airport so they can fly from the US to Brussels for $180 each round trip! That was only one story, they had many.
The first day we were all together was Tuesday 5/8. We all met and stayed with M&M at their home in the southeastern part of Reno. We all were introduced had a few cocktails, maybe more than a few?? uummmmm..Mike & MaryAnn planned dinner at the Eldorado Hotel in downtown Reno. Mike “M” likes to play Texas hold’em there, so our dinners were comp'd.. Smile We all enjoyed a nice big buffet dinner!
MaryAnn drove us to dinner and then home. There is really enough room for 5 in the seat belts so Mike “G” was in the very back as the “luggage” to dinner and then home. Thankfully he had enough drinks to make himself very flexible.. Good sport!
In the morning, Wednesday 5/9, the 5 of them took a 5 miles walk, while I stayed home, to try and catch some sleep that I didn’t get.. Sometimes I just can’t sleep, it was after 4am before I could get to sleep. However they all left for their walk and really I didn’t sleep but got up and showered, checked email and before you knew it they were all back. Mike Mohoff was our chef of the day! He prepared us a breakfast fit for KINGS! MaryAnn working ambitiously to her tasks of making the table look wonderful, making coffee, toasting toast! Never does she sit down. Ask if they need help? “NO, sit down and enjoy it”! Had a fabulous meal! From here the “Gills’” went their way, to the Peppermill to do some gambling and to hopefully met up with an old friend. While M&M and Ev & I went shopping for Kayaks.. We went to this store called Scheels a nice HUGE sporting goods store, similar to Cabellas.. We went to a few sporting goods store on that Wednesday. REI won out over all. We didn’t buy that day, but did buy the kayaks when we got home…
We all met back at M&M’s late that afternoon.. Had a few cocktails, shared many stories, looked at lots of photos while M&M prepared us another fabulous dinner! Rib dinner to die for! What great hosts M&M are!! You know we didn’t have to drive, we didn’t have to pay for anything, room and board was FREE!! I think we should have stayed at least another week!! Smile Thursday morning M&M’s guest (Mike & Linda and Ev & I) all got ready to say our good byes.. M&M fixed us another fantastic breakfast.. Said our good byes, Mike & Linda off to the airport, going to Dallas then traveling on to “who knows where”? However I do know their future plan (about 2 weeks off) was going to Africa on Safari for approx. 2 weeks!! And then???
Ev & I got in our Toyota and drove home.. We did stop at Cabellas on our way out of Reno.. Had a nice ride home..

Has Bimini top (perfect shape, color blue)!!
Will get photos soon!
fun,fun, fun!!!
Comes with ropes, buoys, anchor, life jackets, cover, etc..
Boat has been Garage kept for the past 4 years.
Our boat  runs GREAT! Is gently used.. Smile
It has an hours meter, however, I don’t think it has always been connected. Since we have owned it since 2008 we have put on about 50 hours. Lifetime I guess probably about 300 hours,  however not sure. The ladies that owned this boat before us, only ran it in the summer time on occasion in Lake Sonoma.. not much and before that, don’t know? Just know that the boat has been a great boat! Runs fabulous! We have had the boat in Clear Lake and Lake Berryessa.

The boat is in great condition!! It is GENTLY used! So yes, it has some scratches, and the upholstery probably will need some tender loving care in the next couple of years. Smile

However at this point is runs great looks great!
We (my kids) are selling it because we bought a travel trailer and we are a young family.. Smile can’t have both.. Sad smile
Enjoy the pictures!!
Check out the boat on the lake in this amateur video May 7, 2012>> http://youtu.be/HlmU6nTfBGE
