Beautiful Clearlake in California

Beautiful Clearlake in California
Pacific Ocean/Mendocino Feb 2016
Update: March 6th, 2016.
After a very very long year of learning to live a new life with my most recent handicap. I am getting movement in my arm!! :) It started the end of August and has been progressing, slowly. My issues with paranioia and depression are also getting better. I am confident that things will continue to progress. However, loosing a whole YEAR of my life is devastating to say the least. However, keeping a positive attitude for the most part has been a huge challenge, but I do it. I am grateful to all my family and friends that have been so encouraging and helpful. Thank you..

Birthday Extravaganza!!

Our first birthday started with meeting Pam Rowland so we could car pool to the Blue Wing to celebrate Bea’s birthday. Bea has adopted many of us as her “daughters”. And today she has some of those “daughters” with her to celebrate her birthday. She is so happy!!

Evening birthday celebration at Rob & Gayle. Gayle threw a nice birthday party for Rob. However I knew Gayle’s birthday was earlier in the month, so it was kind of nice that Ev & I also were celebrating her b-day too.. There were lots of friends and some family they had invited. Rob cooked up a bunch of different sausages.. Other guests brought some sides and we were good to go!! Very nice party.. Nice people.. Smile

Weekend with the Cruz Family

025

From left to right pictured above: Morgan, Sydney, Kristen, Steve and Raine (Steve’s wife). Nice looking family!! Smile

I am sure our actual weekend started on Thursday or possibly Wednesday this past week. Each evening was a new adventure. Steve worked on something each evening this past week. Steve is an electrician.. When he first came to stay with us, he took it upon his self to tackle our door bell that hasn’t worked in some time. I do believe he has been fooling with it for most of his stay, just trying to fix what is there.. However after many hours of trying to fix the old, we went with new! Yahoo we have a door bell!! What a guy!! Smile Steve has been such an asset in more ways than you know. He fixed some light switches for us. He and Ev took off the balcony on the lake house.. Steve wouldn’t let Ev on the ladder, so guess who did most of the work? uummm…. What nice man he is! We think he is a “keeper”..
Steve has been staying with us for about 6 or so weeks. And so it would be we have become friends.
This was possibly Steve’s last part of his work stay and it was Father’s Day weekend, so he invited his family up for the weekend.
We had lots going on at the Moose.. dinner on Friday night, Craft faire on Saturday, then Father’s day barb-q.. Steve and his family came for both the dinners. I was the designated cook for the weekend, so it was nice that they could support our local Moose Lodge.. Smile And so I could get to see them too!!

The Cruz family stayed at the Paradise Beach House. We had them all up for breakfast on Saturday morning, before they would venture out on the lake for a day on the lake in the boat.
Due to the fact I was working all weekend at the Moose, I was unable to participate in the boating activities. DANG!
They all got out on the lake about Noon.. Seemed everyone did tubing! The whole family.. I would have loved to have been there.. oh well.. After a fun time on the water.. while just passing time having a beverage, they started to come in.. well??? It seemed the boat wouldn’t start, possibly the starter?
Of course they had to flag the sheriff down and get a tow.. DANG! Over all I think they had a good time..
Pete our friend was up today helping to put in a new starter for the boat.. seems there may be another problem! $$$$ I am sure.. but keep us in your prayers and maybe Pete can break things loose.. ??

On the lake with Gil & Christie

We were asked to be Gil & Christie’s spotters while they skied on Clearlake.
We were out on Monday afternoon for a bit.. Both of them skied awhile. Gil is still recovering from his cancer ordeal last year.. But soon I suspect a full recovery!! He is almost back to his skiing self.. Smile

We were back on the lake today (Thursday). We were one person shy, that would be Everett. He stayed home and got our boat ready for launching on Saturday..

Gil did very good skiing this morning. He is surely getting stronger all the time. I am happy to see his sense of humor also returning..
Christie always mesmerizes me when she ski’s. She just pops up so gracefully and the glides with ease across the waves and water.. Amazing she can just do this looking like it is effortless…
Today was extremely warm! Nearly 100 today.. Century mark plus over the next couple of days.. Pretty DAM HOT!
After the skiing, we kind of set back in the boat and relaxed with a beer and sandwich… Went for a swim a couple of times..We stayed out a few hours. Time passes so quickly when we are out there!!
We viewed where the fire burned on Wednesday June 5th. Really close to the Paradise Beach House. About a 1/4 away.. Just above Pirates Cove, near Pine Dell. Thankfully the fire department had a good handle on it and got it out fast! Still burned 30 acres. No homes were damaged.

Below you can get a little movie of both Gil & Christie skiing..

Charley Baker Band/Raise the Roof fundraiser Moose Lodge

We had awesome day at the Moose on Saturday. We started with the District Meeting mid-day. The turnout was wonderful!! Nearly 45 people. Wish we could get that many people for Monday night dinners at the Moose.. Smile Lunch was served by the LOOM officers, chicken fried steak/potatoes/gravy/veggie/dessert…Great job guys!
From there we cleaned up and got ready for the BIG night ahead. We finished getting everything cleaned up, tables set. Kitchen help got prime ribs/potatoes on.. we had a couple of hours to kill so headed home for some much needed rest.. Some of the volunteers stayed at the Moose while we rested..
By the time Ev & I got back to the Moose it was a bit after 5pm. The place was already rock’in.. People filled the hall.. For me there is nothing more exciting than to see the Moose Lodge come alive with people chatting and enjoying the moment. Charley and his group all set up on stage.. He put out a few “teaser” songs.. Then joined his family and group for dinner. Dinner was fabulous! Charley worked the room so well. He had everyone eating out of his hand. He was funny, he would sing to the ladies, he congratulated a couple who to married the next day and played them a special song, he was so much more.. He had the ladies all on stage toward the end of the evening singing “We are Family”.. Smile
The Moose Lodge was busting with all the people! We had 150 people enjoying a wonderful evening with Charley Baker and band.. Food was delicious.. Great Volunteers!!
