Beautiful Clearlake in California
Pacific Ocean/Mendocino Feb 2016
Update: March 6th, 2016.
After a very very long year of learning to live a new life with my most recent handicap. I am getting movement in my arm!! :) It started the end of August and has been progressing, slowly. My issues with paranioia and depression are also getting better. I am confident that things will continue to progress. However, loosing a whole YEAR of my life is devastating to say the least. However, keeping a positive attitude for the most part has been a huge challenge, but I do it. I am grateful to all my family and friends that have been so encouraging and helpful. Thank you..

Mohoff Visit on a very Eventful Weekend!

We invited Mike & Mary Ann down for the luau before we left in June on our vacation to come down for the Comedy Show and Luau we were putting on at the Moose.
They arrived here late afternoon on Friday 8/9. The weather was HOT (over 100) so we decided on a light dinner. I made up some turkey rollups for dinner along with a small salad..

I also made us a cheesecake for dessert, topped with fresh blueberries/strawberries.. uuummm.. Recipe to follow..
Saturday we had a “camp” breakfast as we usually do, another job well done by Mike Mohoff. Then off to the Moose to get ready for the Luau Saturday evening.
Sunday we went to the Rob Rob Golf & Country Club for brunch with our Philosophical Society group. First time for Mike & Mary Ann, I believe they enjoyed it. We also met one of the comedians from the night before Bob Johnston and wife Vita.. sweet sweet couple. I do believe they too enjoyed their time with us.. We had Pam & Doc at our table.. Larry & Lynn were socializing with other members at another table. Rich & Judy didn’t make it, cause Judy was under the weather..

Brunch was delicious as usual. However, we did get some “bad” news that the Rob Roy will be NO longer doing brunch due to they are in financial difficulty and are probably going to close or hopefully sell and stay open..
We then went over to the Rancheria to do a bit of trying our “luck”, which none of us had, so we came home. We were just settling in for a nice rest, when I got a call from our neighbor Jane telling us of a fire that had just started down by the Moose Lodge..It was approx. 4pm Sunday afternoon.

This was just the beginning of the nightmare to come. Soon the fire was growing and we weren’t sure which way the fire would move, if it came west, then we would be threatened! However it headed northeast, thank God. Then a second fire further down on Hwy 20 going east started up. It wasn’t long and we saw bombers in the air, sirens and more and more fire fighters coming. Soon we heard that Spring Valley was being evacuated, about 450 residents. Among the residents of Spring Valley are our friends Rob & Gayle. We were very concerned about other friends we have there as well, however there was no phone service. We tried calling but no answer no answering machine either.. We did call Gayle & Rob’s cell phones.. We were so worried as we really didn’t know the extent of the fire at this point. Soon we heard from Rob & Gayle and soon they were here safe and sound. We were all worried about what the fire was doing and it seemed difficult to get updates on what was burning and it what direction it was headed. Very limited info. Thank God for FB, everyone was posting photos, and updates. The Moose was said to have burned down, but turned out to be false and then the Moose became the evacuation center. Lots of Spring Valley residents were there with household items, they dogs, cats, horses, etc.. The heat was horrible!! This continued all they through Monday.. There were a couple of homes that did burn to the ground that were close to hwy 20. We did know the families of the homes.

Sad times..
On Sunday night we all sat down to dinner, Mike, Mary Ann, Gayle, Rob and us. Talked about the day’s events.. Kind of a grey time.. I can’t even remember what we had for dinner…?
Sunday morning we all sat down for yet another “camp” type breakfast.. A group effort. Mike cooking bacon and the eggs, Mary Ann setting tables, cooking toast and me outside on the barb-q with the sausage.. If nothing else everyone should be very content with all the “comfort” food we all ate.. Smile Ev on “kp” duty..
group monday

Another day of “not knowing” much of anything. Hwy 20 is closed in both directions and Spring Valley residents are still hanging out at the Moose or in a motel.. no word yet of what’s going on. And the weather? HOT! Over 100 degrees!
Mike & Mary Ann headed home across Hwy 20. When they got to the “y” they were escorted to past all the fire danger. Gayle and Rob were still our guests to what would be one more night. On Tuesday morning the residents were allowed back at their homes.
Fire is still going and hope it will be totally under control soon. These fires are suspected “arson”.. The heat wave we are having I am sure it s a contributing factor. On Monday 8/13 the high was 110 degrees! The heat is suppose to stick around till over the weekend.. Sad smile
Everyone (our guests) is now home safe. Thank you Lord for keeping them all safe..

I am always amazed when disaster hits, how so many many people come together to help one another. Gives you faith once again in humanity.
To our fire fighters and other personal, thank you for yet another job well done! We are forever in your debt. God Bless.
