Beautiful Clearlake in California

Beautiful Clearlake in California
Pacific Ocean/Mendocino Feb 2016
Update: March 6th, 2016.
After a very very long year of learning to live a new life with my most recent handicap. I am getting movement in my arm!! :) It started the end of August and has been progressing, slowly. My issues with paranioia and depression are also getting better. I am confident that things will continue to progress. However, loosing a whole YEAR of my life is devastating to say the least. However, keeping a positive attitude for the most part has been a huge challenge, but I do it. I am grateful to all my family and friends that have been so encouraging and helpful. Thank you..

Quincy Lake, WA w/Rick & Lynn 6/25-6/28/15

Holy Cow it was hotter than hell!! 108 degrees for 3 days in a row! NO HOOKUPS! Too HOT! We arrived a day earlier than Rick & Lynn.. The kids were also suppose to come? Not sure what happen there except that it was probably too HOT! And way too many mosquitos and horse flies that all BITE!
We had a challenging time finding the lakes. We had only been here once before many many years ago.. Quincy lakes is located close to the Columbia Gorge in the eastern part of WA state…
When we arrived and finally found a place to park, there were a bunch of men that were “redneck/biker” type of men camped next to us.. seems friendly enough.. After we parked the trailer they let us know that they were going to have a bachelor party there that night.. eeccckkk…. well as it turned out I think they all passed our before midnight and never heard nothing.. LOL.. They were all mid-30’s and older.. some party guys they were!!
Next day the bachelor party guys moved out fairly early..
Rick & Lynn got there late afternoon.. We started our own party at that time.. Smile Then Rick plugged our trailer into his motorhome so we could have AC, it was so dam hot.. we stayed plugged in the whole time we were with them! Rick & Lynn used over a $100 in fuel running their generator.. thank God! it was a life saver.. Smile
We did enjoy ourselves in site of the heat! We did floaties and life jackets on the little lake.. Ev used his paddle board.. we ate good, partied hardy and just enjoyed each others company..
I think Rick & Lynn missed us.. we had been at their house earlier in the month.. Smile Love them both so much! Wished we lived closer..
Being that it was so hot when it came to leave and head home, we decided to take the coast home.. we had quite a long drive that day to the coast.. but well worth it.. Smile

Lake Pend Oreille/FARRAGUT STATE PARK/Coeur d’Alene

We departed Whitefish the 23rd of June and headed for Lake Pend Oreille and stayed at Farragut state park for two nights.

We didn’t get to spend much time on the lake. However we did go through the Farragut Museum. Farragut was a naval base in world war 2.

Lots of interesting information that I had no idea that even existed.
Lake Pend Oreille is also secretive submarine base >>
http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/the-navys-most-vital-and-secretive-submarine-base-is-in-1590794426 the lake is 1150 feet deep!!
We also went to dinner in Coeur d’Alene on lake Coeur d’Alene at the
Cedars Floating Restaurant.. Wonderful food! Service was?? could have been better.. We met this nice friendly gentleman from “Indy”.. Jim was his name.. He was in Spokane for business and just happen to be eating at the Cedars as well.. Nice to chat with him.. Smile Got an email today from Mr. Jim…

Whitefish, MT 6/19-6/23/15

Glorianne and Stan left this morning.. Sad smile They are headed home..
It was fun while it lasted!! Smile
Now we are on our own again.. Ev took the paddle board off the truck and we went down to the Whitefish river with the dogs.. I sat along the bank and watched Ev and the dogs ride the paddle board.. This was the first time the paddle board was ever in the water.. It is Ev’s early birthday present.. It was a beautiful day..
I don’t remember exactly in what order we did things.
We didn’t do anymore at Glacier, we drove around Flathead Lake, we trekked around Whitefish, we rode the gondola at
Whitefish Ski Resort.. Great time!
Check out our pictures.. Smile

McDonald Creek at Glacier Park

What a beautiful day this is! We kind of lolly gagged around this morning.. Ev went to Safeway and bought some maple bars for breakfast!! Smile Oh yummy! Love maple bars w/milk.. My first memory of maple bars were with my Grandmother that lived on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle.. She took my brother Rick and I to the Bon Marche to have them with milk on several different occasions.. Love those things! Not so healthy, but every now and then it is good.. Smile
Ev also washed the truck.. Smile He is so good..
Ev and got a late start today.. I don’t think we arrived at the park (Glacier Park) till afternoon noon.. We did stop and ask for some good places to hike at the visitor center.. The “forester” suggested McDonald Creek.. sounded good to us..and it had a waterfall.. that was important..
We arrived there soon after we left the visitor center.. wasn’t very far.. we started on our hike.. and heaven forbid there was a sign that said to the effect “Grizzly Bear” area.. OMG.. These days things are different.. My fears are greater and my balance is not so good either.. thankfully as we started walking the trail there were many other hikers.. when we come upon them walking back to their vehicles and they were not running Smile we said to them I guess there is no Grizzly chasing  you? of course they laughed and went on their way.. The scenery was incredible.. Breath taking to say the least! As you will see in the scenery shots below..
Most of you know Ev and I can be pretty “chatty”, really? oh yes, for those of you that don’t know us really well.. hahha.. we met people that were moose members laong the trail.. we met a couple from Santa Rosa!! Small world in so many ways! Part of being on vacation for Ev and I is meeting  new people/sharing our life with them.. Its just important to us to meet people as it is to visit the places we visit…We love that just as much as visiting all these wonderful places!
Our walk today was so entertaining.. Its just as important to enjoy the people as it is the place.. The journey to get to the place you want to enjoy is also very important.. it is all about “detail”.. It all makes for a fabulous adventure! The journey, the people and the place are all part of making it such a memorable experience!
We hope you enjoy all the pictures too!!

Commentary of what the day will bring

Well today is the first day that I have done blogging since our trip started May 26th.. There has been so much I have and you have missed. I am going to try and catch up..? or not.. Smile
We have been on vacation for almost a month now. I will try and post some photos even if there is no commentary.. or not..
Since my injury in late January, life has changed enormously! as you could well imagine..having a paralyzed arm is pretty devastating in so many ways.. You see me not using it and it ‘hangs in there”.. there is so much more that goes with it.. our life.. We both are doing pretty good as we try and keep a positive..
We planned a much longer trip that we were going to leave in March, that we were going to travel nearly 90 days.. but since the injury? Not with my injury it didn’t happen! I know for awhile I was on a pity party.. however a friend of mine, told me it was time for me to put my “big girl panties” on and get on with my “new life” so be it.. For the most part I try and Ev is always a trooper.. God Bless him.. I don’t know how I could have dealt with this otherwise.. He is my saving grace..
Just a little update.. My arm has made no noticeable improvement since my 6 weeks check up with my neurosurgeon! Yup.. pretty much sucks!~ I am 5 months out of surgery now on the 26th of this month.. Arm is showing a great amount of atrophy. Sad smile  Told Evee today he needs to take photos from the right from now on.. I still have some vanity.. I hope you enjoy our blog.. will try and update a little more.. Life has changed..

Whitefish and Glacier Park June 2015

We arrived in Whitefish on the 15th of June. We drove from Great Falls and entered Glacier Park from the east. We followed the Flathead River. Such a gorgeous drive.
We arrived late in the day at the Whitefish Moose Lodge. And as bad luck would have it, we didn’t get to our camping spot till the next day. The camping was full on that Monday night.
We walked over to Safeway and got our dinner and retired early.
The next day (Tuesday) was about getting settled in. Some of the previous campers were slow in getting out. In the  meantime we just visited with people. Glorianne & Stan went to town and checked it out.

After getting settled in, we decided to drive over to Glacier and just check it out.. We were about an hours drive from the park.

Ev and I have made this trek to see Glacier two other times. The first time was in 2003 and the park was on fire, so we didn’t get to see it. The next time would be early June of 2011, this time there was too much snow and the park wasn’t open yet..This time was timed perfect!
Wednesday we made plans to go on the
Red Bus tours at Glacier..This was the BEST!
Later that Tuesday afternoon after our drive over to Glacier, we got back to Whitefish just in time to walk through the Farmers Market.. OMG there were so many people! For such a small place it sure had a big market!

We love Whitefish, MT!

Red Bus Tour at Glacier Park

What a wonderful day with a great tour!!
Ev and I are not so good at being tourist sometimes.. Thankfully we had Glorianne and Stan as our traveling companions! Smile
Glorianne suggested the red bus tour. So I did some research and found that we could take a tour on the “red bus”. We 7made arrangements for this tour for Wednesday June 17th. Tour started at 9:30am. We are staying in Whitefish, MT so that was a 45 minute drive to the park.
We took the “Alpine “am” tour.. ended up being nearly 5 hours! What a great time we had on those ‘red buses’, ‘circa 1936’, they are wonderful.. and if you ever come here, be sure to take one of the tours! The tour is grand and so informative! And we had the best bus driver and commentary! Tera, she was fabulous!

Fort Benton, MT

We are having so much fun with Glorianne & Stan. Today we are at Fort Benton, birth place of Montana. We drove up from Great Falls, about 35 miles or so. The Great Missouri River flows through both Ft Benton and Great Falls.. The area is all pretty much prairie..
We walked through several museum areas here.. Spent the whole day looking at so many different history making facts..

Great Falls MT

We left Toppenish on Thursday and traveled to Montana just over the border where we stayed at Silver Dollar City over night.. for FREE and free electricity.. Smile
Early Friday morning we headed to Great Falls MT where we would stay at the Moose Lodge there.
We had a very educational time in Great Falls and Fort Benson..
We first visited the
Charles Russell Museum. Incredible and beautiful museum! We toured most of the day. No photos were aloud inside.

Click on the photos below to enlarge..

After the C.M. Russell museum we went down by the Missouri River where the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and toured it..

After our day of touring dear friends (Lynn & Russ) to Glorianne & Stan had invited us all out for dinner to their home for dinner. It was a bit of a drive to their place, but well worth it. Such a warm welcome. They showed us their beautiful home as well as the property. Both Lynn & Russ are such hard working people. They served us a delicious dinner! They wined and dined us!
Lynn is quite the “hoot”. She has the cutest chicken house I think I have ever seen! The inside of the house is all painted and has wall paper as well as the laying stations each have curtains! Smile

Wonderful hospitality! Thank you..
